POS-622 SYMMETRIC VS STEP TIP TUNNELED DIALYSIS CATHETERS- A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

چکیده
An efficient vascular access is the mainstay for successful haemodialysis. Central venous Catheter a good choice, especially when urgent Dialysis needed either at time of initiation or permanent becomes dysfunctional. Tunneled Catheters have evolved as first choice due to their low risk infection and longer survival. Newer catheter tip designs claim offer better flow, lower re circulation life. The present retrospective analysis aimed comparing “Step-tip” “Symmetric” designs.

Non-tunneled versus tunneled dialysis catheters for acute kidney injury requiring renal replacement therapy: a prospective cohort study
BACKGROUND Acute kidney injury requiring renal replacement therapy (AKI-RRT) is associated with high morbidity, mortality and resource utilization. The type of vascular access placed for AKI-RRT is an important decision, for which there is a lack of evidence-based guidelines. METHODS We conducted a prospective cohort study over a 16-month period with 154 patients initiated on AKI-RRT via eith...
متن کاملRole of culturing from the tip and the tunneled segment of the catheters in tunneled catheter infection.
PURPOSE Both the tip and the tunneled segment of removed tunneled jugular catheters were cultured to determine whether there is a difference between both cultures in diagnosis of the catheter infections. The role of interventional radiology in prevention, diagnosis, and management of the tunneled catheter infections is also discussed. MATERIALS AND METHODS In this prospective study, 22 tunnel...
متن کاملLong-term outcomes of arteriovenous thigh grafts in hemodialysis patients: a comparison with tunneled dialysis catheters.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Arteriovenous thigh grafts are a potential vascular access option in hemodialysis patients who have exhausted all upper-limb sites. This study compared the outcomes of thigh grafts with outcomes obtained with dialysis catheters. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASUREMENTS A prospective vascular access database was queried to identify 209 thigh grafts placed from Jan...
متن کاملDoes heparin coating improve patency or reduce infection of tunneled dialysis catheters?
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Tunneled dialysis catheters are prone to frequent malfunction and infection. Catheter thrombosis occurs despite prophylactic anticoagulant locks. Catheter thrombi may also serve as a nidus for catheter infection, thereby increasing the risk of bacteremia. Thus, heparin coating of catheters may reduce thrombosis and infection. This study evaluated whether heparin-coated...
متن کاملAdvances in tunneled central venous catheters for dialysis: design and performance.
Over 70% of patients initiating chronic hemodialysis in the United States have a tunneled central venous catheter (CVC) for dialysis as their first blood access device. Tunneled CVC have requirements that are unparalleled by other access devices: high blood flow rates at moderate pressure drops without obstruction, minimal trauma to the vein, resistance to occlusion by fibrous sheathing, preven...
